Diva. Mara's a sister to me. I simply
love her no matter what. She's a very
strong woman. She knows what she wants.
A really funny girl. A totally sweet
friend. We've made so many memories.
Haaay, Mara mahal kita. Miss you so
much. Galingan niyo sa arts!
MmMmMuah.. :*
SARAH
i love this girl. she's the epitome of
a modern young(as in high school
young) lady. I learnt a lot from her-
and I'm older! Haha... but i guess she
learnt a lot from me too... diba Mara?
Anyways, I miss spending time with
her, we used to have a blast when we
were cottagemates... "healthy"
foodtrips, kwentuhans, iyakan... I
always used to have difficulty
starting relationships with people
pero at least in the end friends
talaga kami... and that's what i call
Mara, totoong friend yan. See you next
year dito. I'm excited to watch your
recital. enjoy your last year... DO
STUFF... but stay in control...cheers
JOWIN
mara was my "friend sa kalokohan" way
back in gradeschool... she could easily
charm anyone with her wits... and even
though she didn't get the academic
award for best in english in sixth grade,
for me she was the best there is in our
class in terms of grammar and
literature... now that i think about it, she
was one of the few in our batch who
made any sense... one thing certain
about her is that she will succeed in life
whatever career she plans to pursue...
take care, girl.. and i hope to have a
chat with u soon... ;-)
NESS

nagpupunta na siya sa kuwarto

i beg you...to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. don't search for the answers, which could not be given you now, because you would not be able to live them. and the point is, to live everything. live the questions now. perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer...

Hearing you call me your hero makes me think if I am truly worthy. I think you are highly intelligent and passionate which is rare for a person your age. When you call me hero, it humbles me. Thank you for entering the my world and The Dawn's.

IMAHE NASYON / 2006 / 130 mins / DV
"WHAT HAPPENED AFTER 1986?"
20 YEARS. 20 FILMS. 20 FILMMAKERS. 1 NATION.
IMAHE NASYON is a groundbreaking, conceptual omnibus film by 20
alternative filmmakers who were tasked to present their personal
visions on national issues. It is underlined by a conceptual question
asked by line producers Jon Red & Carol Bunuan Red:
"WHAT HAPPENED AFTER 1986?"
In 2006, IMAHE NASYON attempts to answer the question.
That question also became a thematic and uniting thread across the
films, but each film is made of different cinematic genres that is
representative of the filmmaker's style, stressing the concept that
in spite of individual visions we share the same goal: to depict a
truthful image of the nation.
The omnibus project was conceptualized by Jon and Carol in
commemoration of Edsa 1, a political revolution that changed their
generation forever. It is also a celebration of the struggle and
growth of Philippine Independent Cinema which, in essence, is a
cultural revolution only now gaining public acceptance.
A unique and common element in IMAHE NASYON is rising Indie actor
PING MEDINA who is featured in all the 20 films. He represents the
next generation who will play a crucial role in the direction of the
nation and its image.

Please forgive the appeals of a supportive sister.
I want to share good news that my sister, IRA PATRICIA MARASIGAN, was selected as one of the 24 semi finalists of PHILIPPINE IDOL.
This coming Saturday, September 9, 2006, at 9:00 pm, ABC Channel 5 will be airing live the elimination round of the women's group. Out of the remaining 12 females, four (4) ladies will be chosen to be automatically advance into the magic 12 finalists.
And so this this message.
As most of you know, PHILIPPINE IDOL is judged not only on the merits of the participants, but by the number of text votes they get. CORRECTION: THE ONLY BASIS is the number of text votes each contestant gets. Maybe sad, but true.
So, we enjoin you to vote for IRA PATRICIA by texting "IRA" to 2339 beginning right after the show this Saturday up to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. As far as we know, there is no limit to the number of times you can vote. For those outside the Philippines, you may want to sound off your relatives and friends so they can vote for you. The results will be announced during the 9:00 p.m. show on Sunday, September 10.
If you want to check Ira out, visit the Philippine Idol website at www.philippineidol.com. Ira's previous performances during the eliminations can also be viewed at www.youtube.com (just search for "Ira Marasigan" or "Philippine Idol 40" or "Philippine Idol 24.") As my mother puts it, hindi naman kahiya-hiya.
(As added background, Ira was a member and soloist -- along with her twin sister, Mira Francesca-- of the Ateneo De Manila University College Glee Club all through her four years in college -- she graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She has also appeared in musical productions of Tanghalang Ateneo -- "Ang Babaero ng Sevilla" and "Lam-ang" and last year's "Ang Birhen ng Caysasay" where she alternated in the lead. Then she had a six-month stint singing with a vocal group in Sheraton Hotel in Kuala Lumpur up to January this year.)
Actually, Ira joined Philippine Idol more out of the desire to find out for herself how far she can go. Now that she is in the semifinals, we have all come to realize that there are now those who are rooting for her to go all the way to the finals. As her sister, I only want to make sure that I, along with my family, did something for her and for all those who care for her; and we hope you will join us, too.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and please feel free to send it out to all those you think should get this as well. Don't forget to vote "IRA" this weekend!
Thank you and may you all continue to be showered with blessings!
Sincerely.

nagsawa na kayo sa philippine idol at the dawn ? -- o ito, bago naman

mood:
cheerful
i went home late thursday night from LB and stayed in CCp for a while. i hadn't had dinner yet but my dad told me we would be going home in a while. they (ira and my dad) were coming from the ramon magsaysay awards, my mom was coming from the Aliw awards (she won for best actress in a non - musical production by the way) and mira was coming from rockwell in a wine tasting event, i think. :D
so yeah, they were all in formal dress attire, mira was more or less very much presentable (as always) and i was in jeans and flip flops. major fashion victim on that night. i was coming from lb, i took the bus, what else were they expecting?? its a good thing, however i was still presentable in a normal day because i had my hair down and i was wearing my gymnastics sports jacket. o diba, star din.. ibang field nga
lang. :p
anyway, moving on.
i had no idea we were going to the manila hotel, and i was really so hungry that i didn't bother to complain at all when i found out. when we got there, the first one i met was Moi Ortiz and Boy Abunda (How great, right?).. beso beso and hello and stuff like that. i was too hungry to be ashamed of what i was wearing so i just smiled my way all through the conversation. well, after a few photo ops, we headed home and i grabbed dinner. (check out the photos in my Multiply account)
Friday was Palanca day :
My mom was judge for the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature 2006 and i kept on persuading her to go to the awards night so i could get the chance to accompany her and redeem myself from my fashiopn victim award of 2006 the other day. of course i got my way and i got to wear my favorite Tyler dress and my only high heeled white shoes and yes, the ingenious thing called hair extensions (refer to my new userpic and see those gorgeous curls).
we got stuck in traffic in bacoor and makati and we reached dusit hotel a little past 8pm. i first saw Ricky Davao and i had to tell my mom that he was waving at us. (poor mama, she wasn't able to talk to him, just by passing.) since we were late, we were aked to wait for our table 'coz they had to put up another one dahil sa dami ng dumating. (okay, waiting again) when we were finally asked to sit in our table, i got a glimpse of this skinny girl who was already sitting in our table. Ha! Angelie Heruela and her date: Liza Magtoto (na third place palanca winner pala this year and the writer of the play and soon to be film : HUBAD) it was a fun night. one of our conversation topics included that of Ping Medina's blog. (na dinalaw ko ngayon dahil nga napagusapan namin.. at sa inyong lahat na nagaasam maging kuya si Ping, ha! naging kuya ko na siya for a whole day while shooting a short film with Paolo Villaluna at tatay ko pa ang aking tatay talaga sa sining -- si Soliman Cruz and my mom was the ever fab Janice Jurado, kaya mamatay kayo sa inggit.. heehee.) so yeah, fan niya ako at kung fan niya din kayo, hanapin niyo sa friends' list ko ang blog niya, peace ping, hope you remember me. :D
i was in for another surprise:
since we were in the far corner of the room i wasn't able to appreciate the play that was being performed. (aside from the fact i watched that in the labfest twice already) but someone stood out -- Arnold Reyes. For those my close friends, you know how i was feeling at that moment. no need to say it. ha! nagkita, nakausap at nayakap at nabeso beso ko pa sikya. ha. ha.
aside from that, i found out that Jim Libiran won second place for his best screenplay and when i came to congratulate him, nalaman ko, pelikula ko pala yun! wah, i'm goin to be part of an palanca award - winning screenplay! yahoo. Sir Jim-- aasahan ko talaga yan.. :D
oh and before i forget.. everybody kept on telling me i looked fabulous. i got rid of my fashion victim award that night.
Saturday morning has always been great for me. what more when i was able to watch The dawn's session In MTV, panalo diba?? (akala ko ba wala ng the dawn, ha?) oh and tonight will be Philippine Idol(you know, can't stop plugging) kaya i'll be having fun the rest of my weekend.
ciao!

don't you ever get tired of watching singers belting out their high notes and speaking of television and their singing talents as their way of getting out of poverty? wouldn't you want something more than just sob stories and "professional amateurs" to soothe your ears and eyes during the weekends?
i certainly would.
if you are like me who prefer to listen to quality music, hear and see fresh new talents given constructive critiscisms for them be able to shine their brightest, (without having to try and sing glass - shattering notes) view quality television that has been lost for sometime now and really see professionals do what they're good at, then tune in to ABC 5's PHILIPPINE IDOL on saturday 9pm and get the chance to support the new people who will bring us once again great pinoy music...

Philippine Idol -- theatre elims

location: bahay
mood:
bouncy
music: Desperate housewives theme song
they finally finally announced the Top 24 so next week live elims na. thank goodness! (i have to check pinoy exchange on how they're gonna react to this episode --)
the reason wh i'm so thrilled that they finally announced the top 24 ay dahil hindi na kami under the confidentiality clause at pwede na ipangalandakan sa buong mundo na nakapasok ang ate ko sa top 24! woohoo. so you gotta vote for her. if you're reading this right now, i am telling you to vote for her. as in. ha.:D
siyempre i want my sister to win but i also have a few favorites as well -- si Paw Chavez, stephanie lazaro, GIan Carlo Magdangal, and medyo the maureen girl. ang hirap kaya pumili ng mga gugustuhin dahil everbody is so good. ang galing talaga ng pinoy!! diba??:D
siyempre i'm gonna watch the live elims next week and wait for gian carlo, haha. pero sayang talaga si marc stroem.. he would've been good. at i admire his passion.. alam niyo naman ako,. dakilang head over heels dead for someone who's passionate. kaya nga, THE DAWN FAN eh. :D
well, we'll see, baka naman may pumasa pa sa standards ko, apart of course for my sister..
so don't forget.. vote for IRA MARASIGAN!!
support the filipino artists. :D

Rockestra 2-- The Dawn
Aug. 19th, 2006 | 12:18 am
location: ccp
mood:
rushed
[note: this is a review only for the DAWN's performance at rockestra. i only came to watch because MIke Sandejas told me they were playing.]
I just came from watching The DAWN (and a few other bands) along with the Manila Symphony Orchestra at the Rockestra II concert in The Folk Arts Theater.
THe whole event itself was a blast, we have to give a standing ovation to all the organizers and the bands plus MSO for this one of a kind concert. Its amazing what groups of people watched. there were nuns, senior citizens, high school students, college students and people from different kinds of professions . Everything was great: the music, the technicals, the crowd. There were some forgivable dull moments with some of the other bands, but when everybody knew that it was THE DAWN's turn, everybody was at the edge of their seats.
I got complimentary tickets from the CCP, less than what i expected the seats weren't that good. It didn't help that the person who was sitting in front of me was a big guy who showed no enthusiasm at all during the first part of the show. It became evident, however, that he was saving up all his energy to cheer on the Dawn; and yes, he became my new bestfriend. The first song, i was very happy just to be able to sing along "enveloped ideas" with the dawn. When they moved on to the next song, "tulad ng dati" which happens to be an ultimate favorite of mine, i couldn't help but scream my lungs out, but no, i couldn't be heard because everybody else was doing the same thing. ANd then, Jett Pangan, started to take off his coat, it was evident that he was going to throw it to the audience and without a split second's hesitation, i stationed myself amongst the people in front who were waving their cameras at the performers. Too bad for me, i wasn't able to get the coat. (just for the record, i would've given the person who got the coat my lifetime savings and my bank account for that piece of clothing) But as a consolation, Jett Pangan looked and sang to me one whole verse of their song, and that i wouldn't trade for all the riches in the world.
When Jett Pangan asked evrybody to stand up, everybody did. and not only that they left their places and moved towards the stage. Everybody was so full of energy that nobody noticed that they were already pushing the people in front so close to the platform. Nobody cared who they blocked, who they stepped on, who they had to tackle just to be able to see The Dawn up close and if wishing they be able to touch jett's hand.
That was a scene to remember. How everybody wanted to be able to be so close to a rock band that has withstood the test of time, has been through heartbreaking trials and is still with us, in a different generation in fast changing times, and still sharing their great music, with a catch: with a full orchestra to back them up.
This is hope. This is what people cling to. What people would want generation after generation to remember. Great music. Great performances. ANd the belief that we can adapt to change, accept it and make the most out of it. Just like what the Dawn did.
We do not need to adhere to other cultures to be in line with the world leaders. As long as believe in with what we have, we are way ahead of everybody else.

music: tulad ng dati -- the dawn!
yeah, i still love them. i don't think i ever will stop loving them.
hail, hail, hail, the dawn!
naloloka na ata ako, i had the chance to stay up 'til five am this morning, watchin' MTV and myx waitin for somethin by THE DAWN, but all i got was the friggin dejavu, and never ending Pwede ba by soapdish. nakakapurga kaya. sana THE DAWN na lang. can't get enough of them.
i got my mom o actually take a picture of jett pangan, siyempre kasama siya. Beepsie Mercado, the one who sent me the mms wrote under the pic: "your mom and her future son - in - law.."
*blush* nakakahiya kaya, nagfeeling na ako, nangagaw pa ng asawa. heehee.
but really, not only for jett pangan, but for the whole band -- they're the best, so much better than all the other bands that are taking the music industry by storm. THE DAWN na lang! i kept on telling them, i really hope that all bands today would play music as passionately as they do.
hay!
i saw mike sandejas earlier today, i dunno if he still remembers me, but that's okay, he's still my hero. wah! he's the greatest. He deserves to win the best film award because he didn't do the film just for the sake of doing it, but because he wanted to convey a message to the public who would be watching his film. at ngayon, ako'y die hard fan na talaga.. puro pic na ng the dawn at ni jett pangan at music videos nila ang computer ko.
oo nga pala, i caught them in an interview sa ANC at nabaliw baliw na naman ako, hindi makatigil ng kakatili.. haha,
ayaw niyo maniwala sakin na sobrang ganda nung film? try watchin it.
here's the film trailer oh, :

sa knilang walang katulad na musika na malapit nang idominate ang ipod ko at sa kanilang mesmerizing na mga titig na ngayo'y desktop pic ko, nyahaha.
yun pala ang kailangan ko para makapagaral at makapagreview ngscript. iispin ko lang yung kanta nila, wala na, solve na ako.
can't wait for the next time na makita ko sila ulit na tumugtog.
